What is Pipeline?

Pipeline provides a platform for all cast and crew to collaborate and communicate in real time during a production. Even if you’re off location or checked in, you’ll stay connected through the duration of a production.


The Challenge?

Finding a way for production crews to do their roles effectively while creating a cohesive environment that enables channels for collaboration.

The Solution?

Pipeline will provide the users with the ability to sync with all departments during the production. Producing real-time updates and documents in one location.

Research

Target audience:

  • the independent production team (incl. crew) *film/ music video/ live production
  • the film student (next gen filmmaker/creator)
  • The team of people working on a theatre production during tech week (etc.)

 Business Analysis

The design process followed different techniques such as business analysis, competitive research, heuristic analysis, and requirements.

User Interviews

5 interviews were conducted in person and 8 interviews were conducted over video conferencing to gather personal experience related to working on a production.

Surveying

After several rounds of screening over a 2-week period, 35 responses were collected helping us to figure out our target audience and recognize their use for the app.

Affinity Mapping

 After collecting detailed information I had enough data to begin working on the personas for the app.


 Define

The competitive analysis produced the following information:

  • None of the other apps were free and seemed quite pricey
  •  The high-end products were not really user-friendly and relied on demos or classes.
  • The simpler apps lacked features and resources.

Through the define process, requirements for the app were established along with the concept. High and low impact list were set as the foundation for the pipeline.


Design

During the design phase, we conducted different sessions for wireframing, user flows, sketching and prototyping.
